Tenderloin
About Neighborhood
Dating back to the Gold Rush, the Tenderloin has been a hub of city life. A vibrant residential district, everything the city has to offer is just moments away from the historic Tenderloin. A registered historic district, Tenderloin has retained much of its classic San Francisco architecture.
In the noir classic, Maltese Falcon, Sam Spade resides in a neighborhood flat in our very own Landmark building at 891 Post Street- and the Tenderloin was a favorite stomping ground of beat poets and mid-century artists & musicians. Long known as the best spot to get an authentic and inexpensive Bahn Mi at Saigon Sandwich, or nurse an early afternoon hangover at prolific barfly haunt, Ha-Ra Club- the Tenderloin is becoming home to adventurous new school eateries like Jane, La Cocina and Black Cat.
Located a few blocks from Civic Center BART and a variety of Muni bus lines, the Tenderloin boasts near-perfect numbers for walking, transit, and biking, giving easy access to just about anywhere in the city and beyond.
